PTECH- Pathways in Technology Early College High School

  • The Cheektowaga-Sloan has partnered with Erie 1 BOCES and SUNY Erie (formerly known as Erie Community College) to provide an exciting new opportunity to our eighth-grade students.  The new program is called Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH).

P-TECH is designed to bring together K-12 education, higher education, and employers to offer an integrated six-year program beginning freshman year.  A limited number of seats are available for students to earn a High School Regents diploma, gain relevant work experience with local companies, and an industry-recognized Associate degree at no cost to the families.  The Associate degree pathways are:

    • Building Management & Maintenance,
    • Electrical Engineering Technology, OR
    • Construction Management Engineering Technology.

Cheektowaga-Sloan began this program in the 2019-2020 school year and we are proud to already have three students enrolled.  For the duration of the grant, each year we will continue to add three new freshman to this program.

Mr. Julian informed the school community about a parent informational night which was held on February 9th.  If you did not get an opportunity to attend this but are interested in learning more about this program, please click on the "PowerPoint- P-TECH Build" link provided on this page.

Ths is an amazing opportunity for students.  Students that decide to apply need to be fully committed to the program as the partnership with Suny Erie will begin when they are Freshman.  The workload will be challenging.  Students will operate on a modified schedule for their entire high school career.  Part of their day will be spent at Potter Career and Technical Center and the other will be spent at JFK High School.

We will be updating this page with an application that must be completed with all the required attachments.  The completed applications need to be emailed to the JFK Middle School Counselor, Mrs. Stillman by March 5th, 2021.  Her email address is:  Applications cannot be accepted late.

Erie One BOCES will review all submitted applications and select three students to join the P-TECH program.  If your child is selected, you will be notified about the next steps.  If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email Mrs. Finn, Executive Director of Curriculum, Accountability and Professional Development at
