December's Message From Mrs. Zaccarine

Posted by Elizabeth Zaccarine on 12/2/2021

Welcome to December! Our first trimester has ended, we celebrated our first WIGs, had a successful fundraiser with our Night Out books, honored our Veterans in a small ceremony, and we welcomed in our families for Celebrate Reading Night. November was a great success all around, and we are so thankful to all of our students, families, faculty, and staff for making these things possible.

Celebrate Reading Night brought in 66 families, and students left with handfuls of books. We tell our students to read for at least 20 minutes each night, but it is so important that they really have material to read. Our library is a great source for these books and we have books at all reading levels for our students. Make sure your child is reading these at home with you each day. It is really great if you can ask questions about the story or have your child read their favorite part out loud to you.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are tomorrow, 12/2. If someone at home is sick or you do not feel well, please contact the teacher so we can set up a remote conference in place of the in-person contest. Please park in our back parking lot off of Reiman (bus loop entrance) and enter through the main door in the back under the Woodrow Wilson arch. We will be there to help give you directions to the classroom once you check-in. You will receive your child's report card at your conference. We hope these discussions provide a good picture of what we are seeing in school and also what you can do at home to help support your child's growth and progress for the remainder of this school year. Again, if there are any changes in your schedule for conferences, please contact your child's teacher directly. If it is during conference times, you may call the office so that we can assist.

Our Scholastic Book Fair has been a HUGE success so far and will be open all day tomorrow during conferences. Please stop by the library to see Mr. Wiesmore and shop for some books. These make excellent presents for your children and there are great deals.

Our 'Lil Shopper's Shoppe opens next week. 3rd Graders will be shopping on Tuesday, 4th graders on Wednesday and 5th graders on Thursday. We received the shipments of items in this week and are very pleased with the quality. The items are also very good pricing to allow your children to shop for the family for the holidays, if you choose. If your child cannot shop that day, please reach out to your child's teacher to let us know and he or she will have an opportunity to shop the following week on 12/17.

I will be here tomorrow to meet with parents, answer questions, or share information about Woodrow Wilson with anyone who comes to our conferences. If you are not attending conferences in person, and would like to discuss anything, I am always available by phone or email. Please do not hesitate to reach out. Our open communication will help everyone have the best possible school year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Zaccarine
