Students engage in restorative circles during Kennedy Crew advisement

The District implements Restorative Practices (PreK-12) to foster strong relationships, accountability, and community. Believing that a sense of belonging enhances student success, daily Restorative Circles facilitate connections between students and adults, promoting academic, social, and emotional growth.

MTSS Presentation

Cheektowaga-Sloan has a data-driven cycle at each school where students are proactively monitored to identify students who may need assistance.

Using data-driven universal screening measures and regular meetings with MTSS building teams, students are selected to receive supplemental instruction tailored to their academic and behavioral needs. Selected students are monitored to measure their response to the provided intervention until they master the selected area. This process ensures that every student receives the support necessary to reach their full potential while minimizing their time out of the classroom with their peers.

EWS Work Session

An early warning system is a proactive and unique approach the Cheektowaga-Sloan uses to identify students at risk of academic failure, behavioral issues, or dropping out of school. It uses a combination of data points such as grades, attendance records, disciplinary actions, and social-emotional indicators to detect early signs of trouble. An early warning system aims to intervene as early as possible, providing targeted support and resources to help struggling students before problems become more severe.

By identifying at-risk students early, schools can implement timely interventions, such as tutoring, counseling, or behavioral support, improving student outcomes and preventing long-term academic or social difficulties. This system helps create a more supportive, responsive educational environment where no student falls through the cracks.

Fall Fest

After-school events allow students to explore their interests, build skills, and connect with their peers in fun and educational ways. They also help foster a sense of community, build self-confidence, and support holistic development outside regular classroom time. Here are some examples of different events we offer at each school -  Superhero Night, Fitness Night, Zombie Night, Health and Wellness Night, Family First Night, Homecoming events, etc.

Weight Room

This space is designed to support physical education teachers in aligning their classes with the new standards by emphasizing lifelong fitness for all students. It also enhances our after-school programs, offering diverse activities beyond just weight training, ensuring students have a variety of options to stay active and engaged.

The improved facility will serve as a versatile practice area for all of our athletic teams. The upgraded weight training equipment provides students and athletes with more opportunities to build muscle, target specific strength areas, and achieve their fitness goals.

CTE programs offer numerous benefits to students by providing them with hands-on, career-focused training that prepares them for both the workforce and further education. These programs bridge the gap between high school education and the real-world job market, equipping students with practical skills in fields like healthcare, technology, manufacturing, and culinary arts.
